FOUNDER

RODRIGO GUTIERREZ

Corialent

12 years ago, Rodrigo decided that the Coca Colas of the world shouldn’t be the only ones who get to have all the fun in the advertising industry. He was sick of all the dull, corporate, navy blue and white B2B work out there. Business people are people too. Corialent specializes in B2B marketing that doesn’t suck. And they want to get the rest of the industry drinking that delicious KoolAid.

Confidence And Assertiveness Skills

When you are working to improve your confidence and assertiveness skills, it is important that you understand how these skills affect others. You must learn how to communicate assertively with a positive tone of voice. By developing a good sense of self-confidence through exercise, you can learn how to confidently share your views and opinions with those who may be interested in the subject matter. When you know how to effectively express yourself, you can build your self-esteem and confidence.

The first step to improving your self-confidence and assertiveness skills is to identify areas in which you need help. This can be done through an exercise designed to increase self-confidence, like the one I am going to suggest. Developing a positive thinking habit will give you the energy to be assertive without being overly confident. Positive thinking also gives you a healthy self-image, so your self-confidence is strengthened by a positive image.

The exercises for building self-confidence and assertiveness start by building a healthy self-image. This involves visualizing yourself in a positive way, as having a healthy body, a positive body image, positive thinking, etc. Once you have a realistic picture in your mind, you can work on the specifics to increase your confidence level. Confidence and assertiveness start with your posture, but how you perceive yourself is equally important. If you begin to feel that your posture is not your ideal, try adjusting it so that it is.

Next, you may want to experiment with how you perform certain actions or tasks in certain situations. Do you do your best when you know that you are supposed to do something, or are you more relaxed when there is no requirement? You may want to experiment with a variety of methods to see which method gives you the most self-confident and assertive feelings. For example, if you are required to give presentations at work, try to practice your vocal skills when there is no need to speak up; you will be surprised with the difference.

Finally, you need to become comfortable expressing your own opinion. When you are confident and assertive with someone else, they are more likely to do the same. For example, if you are a salesperson, it is much more likely for your sales pitch to be more confident and assertive than it would be if you were coming to an interview on your own. It is all about how you project yourself. A person's behavior towards you reflects their level of self-confidence and assertiveness, so it is important to be around those who have a high degree of these traits. For example, if you want to be a salesperson, find somebody else who is a strong salesperson.

Remember that self-confidence and assertiveness are two very different things. Many times you will hear compliments like "you are so bossy" or "you always get what you want" which leads many people to believe that they are somehow better than everyone else. However, self-confidence is just a construct and was never meant to last forever. While it does help to have self-confidence, it should not be the basis for everything. Learn to mix and match and don't get too obsessed with it.

Finally, when you are talking to others try to remember that they are also human beings just like us. You may think that they are the most perfect people in the world but they still have flaws just like us. In order to be comfortable talking to them, you may feel good right now by telling yourself that you don't really need to take it personally. You will find that they will also be more receptive to what you say.

So as you can see, there are a lot of ways to use self-confidence and assertiveness skills in order to reach your personal and professional goals. There is no right or wrong answer; it all depends on you. Just keep these three tips in mind and then go out there and do it. You will be amazed at how good it feels. Good luck and have fun!
